EMT-Basic Information and Prerequisites
Program Information
Classes meet Mondays and Wednesdays 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. and
Saturdays 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. or Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
TotalProgram = 200 hours Including 48 hours of hands on clinical work( 24 Clinical / 24 Vehicular ) – Approx 10 weeks
Program cost of $1,200 includes CPR certification through American Heart Association
Prerequisites
- Completed EMT Application
- $500 to reserve a spot in class – or - $1,200 Full Payment
- Copy of High School Diploma or GED certificate
- Copy of Asset Reading Score of 41 or above
- Proof of Age (must be 18 years or older)
- No Felony Convictions
- Health Insurance Card
- Copy of Current MMR Immunization record
- Copy of Current TB Test (within last 12 months)
- Chicken Pox Immunization or Titer
- Hepatitis B (HBV) Immunization or signed release of liability
- Tetanus/Diphtheria (within last 10 years)
Enrollment Process
For those students wishing to enroll in DC Public Safety Academies’ EMT-B Program, you must first go through the application process, which includes the application and meeting the prerequisites. Upon approval, a $250.00 registration fee is due. This fee is non-refundable and required for enrollment into the program. In addition, a $250.00 Clinical/Vehicular lab fee is due. This enrolls you in the program and reserves your spot in the EMT-B Program. The Clinical/vehicular lab fee is ONLY refundable up until 14 days prior to the first day of class. After this time period, the Clinincal/Vehicular lab fee is non-refundable. The tuition fee of $700.00 is to be paid-in-full prior to the start of the program.

Refund Policy
A Student has 2 full class days from the start of the program to withdraw from the program ( please refer to DC Public Safety Academies’ withdrawal policy in the Student Packet). At this point, the $700.00 tuition fee is Refundable and all other fees are non-refundable. After the second full class day, all tuition and fees are non-refundable.
